Rabo-de-Peixe, Fish Tail

Title: "Rabo-de-Peixe" (in English, Fish Tail)

Short description: Fish Tail is the first commercial work by Eshtte Mefille after the incredible success accomplished with his debut oil paint collection "fy dyfroedd torrodd" in 2013. The young British artist with strong Iberian roots reinvents himself with the artwork that opens his new exhibit starring in London later this year. The painting is an attempt to enclose the dynamics of this Portuguese Civil Parish in the municipality of Ribeira Grande, Azores, Portugal. Eshtte Mefille visited this peculiar area twice during the promotion of his inaugural oil paints collection and considered himself mesmerised by the authenticity of the villagers. The mores, the idiosyncrasies and the fish tail itself are present within the soul of this painting.
